The rise of single serve was a disruptive change in the world’s coffee business. And now a new disruption is shaking single serve for the better.
Yesterday in Orlando, Claudio Gemmiti explained to a packed hall at the Innovation Takes Root conference that the arrival of PῧrPod100™ has given consumers what they want – all the benefits in terms of single serve choice and quality without the petroleum-based plastic waste going straight into their garbage cans that has deterred so many consumers.

Claudio, Club Coffee’s Senior VP of Strategic Growth and Innovation has guided much of the research and development going into the award-winning PῧrPod100™, the world’s first Certified 100% Compostable pod for single serve coffee, tea and other hot beverages. Speaking to a conference session on how new plant-based substances drawing on NatureWorks LLC’s Ingeo are changing single serve, he traced the path from the original idea to the product now flowing out to store shelves and food service suppliers across North America. Backing up Claudio’s presentation was the Club Coffee booth at Innovation Takes Root – #ITR2016 – where people at the conference have lined up for a chance to learn more about the new compostable pods, including under the Hills Bros. brand with others on the way. They have enjoyed the opportunity to see how drawing on bioplastics made made from plants instead of oil provides consumers with the alternative they want to petroleum-based plastics for single serve.
