Single Serve Coffee has important advantages. It uses the precise amount of coffee needed for a great cup every time. Not too much. Not too little. Just right.
But what if single serve is more than just environmentally friendly? What if it’s good for your health too?
Yes, forget that apple a day. With so many news stories about medical research on amazing benefits of coffee, single serve could be the right dose for you.
Here are some of the latest research findings and commentaries.
Multiple Sclerosis –Six cups of coffee a day may help cut the threat of developing multiple sclerosis (MS). A research team of experts from leading health institutions in Sweden and the United States reviewed previous studies and came to that surprising conclusion.
Cirrhosis of the liver –Researchers at England’s University of Southampton found a direct correlation between coffee consumption and reduced risk of cirrhosis of the liver. They found that people who drink two cups of coffee more than the average consumption rates enjoy a 44 percent lower risk of developing cirrhosis. That incurable disease kills about a million people every year.
Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease – Two different studies are reporting that long-term coffee drinking seems to offer protection against diseases that involve neurological breakdowns.
What’s going on? The caffeine seems to be a lot of it. The substance that gives coffee its kick also has what the doctors call neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. It suppresses chemicals that your body produces that lead to the sorts of inflammation that may trigger some of these health challenges. Other substances in coffee seem to have anti-oxidant effects that are also positive.
Of course other studies show that too much of a great thing can be too much for us – but with the exact dosage that single serve offers, as they say in the pharmaceutical ads, “Check with your doctor to see if coffee is right for you”.
